Dear praying friends,

I was grateful to find out yesterday that Chris and Joseph arrived safely at Miracle Mountain and were in the process of unpacking their things and getting settled in.

Chris was able to drive halfway down there (about four hours), and Joseph drove the other half. The roads get quite windy and mountainous the last hour or so, so I’m glad Joseph was driving that part of their trip.

The accomodations are simple there but hopefully adequate for their needs. Still waiting to hear how they fair settling in to do cooking, sleeping, etc.

As for keeping up with communications, that’s another story. Chris called from another phone when he got down there (I think it was someone’s cell) to let us know he arrived safely and was in the process of unpacking with Joseph’s help.

When I tried to call on his cell phone later last night to find out how the registration process had gone, how they were getting settled in, what his room was like, etc., his cell phone automatically went to his voice mail (which usually means the battery is dead or the connection is not good).

People say you sometimes don’t really appreciate something until you lose it. After trying several times to reach him this morning on his cell (Joseph doesn’t have a cell phone), I definitely agree with that thought!

I placed a call to Miracle Mountain and left a message, and they called back to let me know that Chris’ cell phone isn’t going to work there. They were getting a landline set up in his room, but that was going to take up to three hours to activate. I am waiting to hear back from them with the phone number.

I also had emailed Chris to find out if there’s another number I can reach him at…and found out that his internet access is going to take up to three days to activate.

I love John Waller’s song, “While I’m Waiting” as played in the wonderful movie, Fireproof. Here are a few of the lyrics from the song:

While I’m waiting
I will serve You
While I’m waiting
I will worship
While I’m waiting
I will not faint
I’ll be running the race
Even while I wait

By the grace of God when we’re waiting, we CAN worship Him, serve Him, trust Him.

Our lives have been filled with opportunities to WAIT on the Lord…and once again, we wait on Him for His good will while Chris is at Miracle Mountain, wait for His grace each morning to live another day for Him with joy and trust, wait on Him for His help for all things, including
phone lines and internet access!

Thank You, Lord, that:
     ~they got down there safely
~they will have a landline phone for their use for the duration of their time there
     ~they are getting settled in
~they will have internet access (DL) for about 2 1/2 of the three weeks they’re there

Please join us in praying that:
~I will be able to get a hold of Chris soon today
~that the internet connection would be set up quickly (they said it would take about 3 days)
~God would help Joseph and Chris settle in to a routine smoothly and give them grace for living together these next three weeks
~that Joseph will acclimate quickly to the kitchen and meal preparation (he did tell me he didn’t mind cooking and doing food prep—“it won’t be be like my mom’s cooking”, he warned!)
~Chris would not be discouraged about the wait on the computer/internet access (he can still work on his books in the meantime)
~Chris would be encouraged by the beginning of the HBOT treatment; that even now he would see some positive results
~Chris would not miss us so much that he would get despondent, but use his time down there to draw near the Lord and serve the Lord with the other folks down there, some of whom I am sure need encouragement and the gospel
~would be able to work on his book this week in the absence of the internet access for a few days yet
~his sleeping arrangements would support Chris being able to get in and out of bed on his own, and that Joseph would not have to get up much at night to help Chris
~difficulties centered around going to the bathroom would not be present

I love this verse–“Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, wich cannot be moved, but abides forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord surrounds His people from this time forth and forever.” ~Psalm 125:1-2

Mountains are certainly surrounding Chris right now. May they represent the very nearness of His God upholding Him and may God give him much grace to trust Him with everything down there!

Grateful for all your encouragement and prayers, and looking forward to when Chris will be able to read your notes for himself from his laptop down there at MM!
