Power Perfected in Weakness, the Journal of Christopher J. Klicka
Many of you reading these Caring Bridge posts have followed Chris’ work and ministry for several years, and I know that thousands of families have been helped through his dedication and hard work on behalf of homeschoolers while at HSLDA for over 24 years.
He was not only tireless in his efforts, he was immovable! (I Cor. 15:58) He LOVED his work. Even more, Chris LOVED the people he served. It brought him such great joy to encourage parents as they trained their children in the Lord Jesus and in the Scriptures. His passion for following Christ was demonstrated both in his deep, personal love for God, as well as in how he loved and lead our family spiritually.
When he was diagnosed with MS in 1994, Chris purposed in his heart to give God glory in the midst of his MS, and by the wonderful grace which God supplied him Chris did just that. Your emails, notes and letters are beautiful tributes to Chris’ love for others and his even deeper love for his great Savior, Jesus.
Chris’ hope ultimately rested in the finished work of Christ on the cross for his sins, and he knew that one day, whether God chose to heal him of the MS in this life or not, he would see Jesus face to face, with a new body, free of MS and made ready to worship Christ his Redeemer, for all of eternity.
Early this year, when Chris’ health started to decline more rapidly, he testified of God’s power being demonstrated in his life even as he was growing weaker and weaker physically. In addition to speaking at five homeschool conferences last spring when he was at his weakest in 15 years, he also started working on a book about the sufficiency of God’s power and grace in his life.
Chris was very nearly finished with that book when God called him Home. He has obtained the Promise, yet if he were able, I know his desire would be to share the hope Christ gave him not only in life but also in death.
And while Chris wasn’t able to finish the last few chapters of his book himself, God placed “scribes” around him the last three weeks of his life, close friends and family who received Chris’ last words and observed his final testimony of God’s power being perfected in his weakness. (II Cor. 12:9-10)
These dear friends–Dennis & Cathey Alberson, Bob Farewell, Stan & LeAnn John, and Beth Raley–have graciously and humbly assisted us in writing the final chapters of Chris’ book as we all observed God writing the final chapter of Chris’ life.
And so, dear friends, it is a great honor for me to announce my dear husband’s new book, Power Perfected in Weakness, the Journal of Christopher J. Klicka. Produced by Shepherd Press in conjunction with Home School Legal Defense Association, this hardback volume is scheduled for release in March, 2010, but is available now for pre-orders.
You can click here for ordering information. To learn more about Shepherd Press, click here. Please join me in praying that Chris’ words in this book would reach hearts at their deepest levels of need with the encouragement and hope in Christ he so convincingly possessed yet so freely shared while he lived.
To God be all the glory,
